Plastics Direct have now been awarded ISO 9001:2000

19th January 2010

Confirming the company’s total commitment to delivering the highest standards of customer service and support, Plastics Direct has recently been awarded the coveted ISO 9001:2000 certification. Not content with this major statement of quality, the company are also working towards ISO 14001.

Director Carl Morgan says, “ISO certification is proof that our quality and service standards have been audited and approved at the highest level.”

The ISO 9001 Certificate was presented to Plastics Direct by the British Standards Institution in November 2009, this followed many months of formalising the internal quality assurance operation and customer service systems that were already in place. Carl Morgan stated, “We knew we were doing things right, after all, our successful growth and customer satisfaction feed-back confirmed this. Despite all this we needed to ensure that our good practice, quality systems and record keeping matched the stringent requirements of the ISO inspectors.”

The Plastics Direct policy of on-going improvement, however, continues … and the next Quality Target is ISO 14001.

Established in 1989 by directors Carl Morgan and Barry Stringer, Plastics Direct stocks plastics and aluminium products which are used in the manufacture of goods including signs, displays, street furniture, toys and medical equipment. The company, which has a turnover of £2m and employs 18 staff, has also invested heavily in new machinery to offer its customers a bespoke plastics fabrication service. Operations director Carl said: “It was clear that we had taken the old site as far as we could. There was limited space to improve the business and this had started to hinder our operations. “Without the move to new premises we would have struggled to increase our current level of sales. “The move to Oldham is a very exciting development and gives us the opportunity to expand our product range and fabrication services.” Peter Treadwell, a senior relationship manager at NatWest, said: “The directors of Plastics Direct have recognised they need to move in order to keep the business
